The Galaxy Z Fold 2, Samsung which was released last September, has disappeared from the company’s US website. Users are welcomed with messages that advise them that the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is no longer available to be purchased and they must explore other galaxy options instead. Even though this might be disappointing if you go to the Samsung US website hoping to buy a telephone, the loss is actually interesting.
The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is the second iteration of large Samsung folding smartphones, which you can no longer buy directly from companies in the US. The change was first led by 9to5Google, which recorded that the smaller 5G Galaxy Z Flip remained available through the Samsung US website.
What makes this interesting? The loss of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 of the Samsung.com website shows that the next generation model – Galaxy Z Fold 3 – may arrive in the near future. If it is not proven to be the case, the loss of the device may still be a good thing: this might indicate that the model is sold out, underlying interest in the beginner foldables market.
Unlike their traditional colleagues, this fold has a flexible look, allowing devices to fold horizontally or vertically for more compact ways to carry a larger appearance. Fold and flip models represent two different folding styles, each targeting different types of users.
The folded flip is similar to the old school flip phone, offers a very compact form factor, while the folds are similar to ordinary smartphones when folded, offering more real estate screens for electricity users. Samsung has not commented on the removal of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 on the US website, but we have reached the company to comment and will return with updates when we know more.
