It is possible that Tiktok creators no longer need to add a “bio bio”, at least to certain types of content. Nowadays, Tiktok introduced Jump, a new way for creators to add interactivity to their videos through third-party integrations. Then, for example, a kitchen video could present a list of ingredients through whisk, an application to share recipes. You can also add a questionnaire through quizing or breathing exercises through Breathwrk. The company has tried this feature before; As of today, all users will be able to see and interact with jumps, but only a “select” group of creators can really add them to their content.
Some of the platforms that have been approved to work with jump include the aforementioned punt, the Brief and Quizletlet, as well as Wikipedia, Statmuse and Tabelog. Others like Buzzfeed, JumpRpe, IRL and Watcha will be launched in the coming weeks. Examples of added content include movies and beauty tutorial reviews.
The closest competitor to jump would be Snapchat’s minis, which are essentially mini applications that allow him to buy cinema tickets through atoms or have headspace meditation exercises. Wechat, the popular Chinese courier application, also has its own mini application line.
“Tiktok has become a destination for both being entertained and learning,” Wreed Sean Kim, the product head of Tiktok, in a press release. “Through Tiktok Jump, we are creating that ‘last mile’ of the discovery trip of our community and helping to cause deeper action and interaction inside and outside the platform”
