Univision’s largest transmission plans are taking shape. The deadline reports that the Giant of the Media in Spanish will launch a worldwide transmission service throughout the world in the US. UU and Latin America at some point in 2022. The service will include a free level and advertising support (based on The existing Prendetv of Univision), while paying subscribers will also get the “best” of Univision likes now and VIX.
The network also took a not so subtle jar in Netflix, a rival sooner to be known for its entertainment entertainment (including some co-produced with Univision). The next offer will have more original productions in Spanish than “any other transmission service,” Univision said, including more than 30 new originals in the first year. Appropriately, Univision has just contracted the content of Netflix VP Rodrigo Mazon as his executive VP for the transmission on request, wants the recipe that made Netflix so popular among the Latinx community.
This represents a significant expansion for Univision. The company was founded in Miami and is largely focused on Spanish-speaking Americans. If the unified service is successful, Univision will have much more influence on the international scenario. The challenge, of course, is changing perceptions. Netflix was already attending this audience years ago, and it may be difficult to convince people from being worth changing (or paying extra for) a relative newcomer.
